Sundance supports the people that are making movies that make a difference.

Our first recipient is the Sundance Institute, arguably the most important force in independent filmmaking in the world. For more than 25 years, programs at the Sundance Institute have sponsored Academy Award-winning documentaries, given a chance to first- time filmmakers, offered workshops to budding directors, provided a forum for women filmmakers, and sponsored the work of Native American and indigenous filmmakers.
