Yudu Gray, Jr., can you believe it? We have met and become friends with Yudu Gray. We think his story is amazing and he is really someone making a difference.
Yudu's Story

Nearly two decades ago my family and I were forced from our home, under the dark of night, by rebel forces. Liberia was being torn apart, and no one was left unaffected. I’ve spent my life in foreign countries around the world – but I’ve always remained Liberian in my heart. The end of the war is almost like a dream – and I’m doing my part to make all of that dream a reality.
Even from the United States, I’m helping my country. I’m making sure to keep my blog up-to-date. A lot of people – both in the US and in Liberia – have rallied around me, giving me support. But it’s not about me. It’s about Liberia coming back together as one people, and presenting herself on the World Stage in Beijing, as a healed and united nation. I’m proud to represent Liberia and run on her national team.
 
But I am also a member of an American community too. The United States opened her arms to me, and has given me the opportunity to succeed while in exile. I’ve made sure, even while training for the Olympics, to donate my time and talents here whenever possible. I’ve organized book drives, participated in community outreach programs, and I continue to volunteer at my old high school as both a coach on the track, and a mentor to the students off the field. As only one person, I know I can only do so much – but I make sure to do my part!
